How to use this file:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- To use this file you could either upload the files as is to your web server. Or you could load this in as SWF into another SWF (for example in a Flash site) .Or you could open the FLA and copy and paste the "gallery_mc" movieclip and paste it into another FLA.
- All code and elements are contained within "gallery_mc" movieclip. If you want to place this movieclip into another project, make sure you place it's x and y co-ordinates to 0 on the stage. If you want to change the document stage size, make sure you set the variables stageW and stageH to your document stage width and height in the code (see Actions inside "gallery_mc" movieclip)
- To customize your gallery, first create the thumbnail and large images and save them to folders. Once you have created your images then you will need to add them to the XML file. In the XML file you can set the title for each gallery, the paths for thumbs and large images, the caption for each image, the colour value for the background and the copy. Use a simple text editing program when editing and saving the XML. Always save the XML to UTF-8 encoding.
- The description copy which appears when you rollover the large image supports HTML formatting so you can add html hyperlinks. See example in XML, also see comments in the code to customise hyperlink colour and hover effect.
- To change settings in the flash file see INITIAL SETTINGS in "gallery_mc" movieclip Actions. You can set many variables such as the maximum amount of thumbs to be displayed, spacing for thumbs, tween speed etc. See comments in the code for more details.
- For the large image transition the Tween Class has been used so you can easily change the
transition type by replacing Bounce, for example, to Regular, Strong or Elastic. See Tween
Class in Flash Help for full list of Tween Class easing properties.
- To set the default for Auto Play, see variable in the XML called 'AutoPlay'. Change this variable to either "true" or "false". You can also set the delay during Auto Play mode, note that the value is in miliseconfs (1000 miliseconds = 1 second), see Delay attribute in the XML.
- See comments in code for further help.
